The National Weather Service says a tornado touched down south of Terry, Montana snapping a tree and damaging two small barns.
No one was injured in the twister, reported shortly before 8:30 p.m. Friday about eight miles south of Terry, which is in eastern Montana between Miles City and Glendive.
Two officials with the NWS in Glasgow surveyed the damage Sunday and confirmed it was caused by an EF1 tornado with peak wind speeds of 90 mph.
The agency says the twister’s path was about 200 feet wide and 500 feet long. The tornado collapsed the walls of a newly constructed barn while another barn was destroyed. Officials found several trees were uprooted and large branches were twisted off. Other shop buildings also had damage.
