A 38-year-old insurance agent in Reno has pleaded guilty to felony insurance fraud after he was accused of writing fake policies for friends and relatives who were unaware of what he was doing.
Bradley Buchanan admitted to Washoe District Judge Patrick Flanagan on Wednesday that he committed the fraud in order to help gain additional commissions and bonuses. He faces anywhere from probation to four years in prison at his sentencing set for Feb. 5.
The Attorney General’s office says Buchanan’s sister alerted authorities after an insurance company demanded she pay for a policy she never knew existed.
The Nevada Insurance Commission revoked his license in October.
