Auto insurance companies are supporting parents and teens with driving safety programs as the Arizona Teen Driver Safety Act goes into effect July 1. With the new law, teen driversin the state will have new requirements to meet before they can receive a full-privilege drivers license.
“The insurance industry is providing the means for teens to learn safe driving techniques,” said Ron Williams, executive director of the Arizona Insurance Council (AIC). “Policyholders for several of our member companies have easily available safety programs to assist teen drivers with the skills they will need to become better, safer drivers.”
AIC’s members are offering the following teen driving programs: American Family’s “Teen Safer Driver Program;” Farm Bureau Financial Services’ “Teen Driver Safe Driving Pledge;” Farmers Insurance’s ” Y.E.S. Program (Your Essential to Safety);” State Farm’s “Steer Clear Program;” and USAA’s “K.E.Y.S. (Keeping Every Youth Safe).” Many insurance companies also are providing discounts on insurance to teens that have completed their safe driving programs, AIC indicated.
