announced that John D. Sorrell Jr., has joined its Los Angeles office as assistant vice president. Sorrell will be based in Lemac’s Los Angeles office and will be responsible for enhancing Lemac’s property capabilities and expanding its client base. He will be concentrating on his specialties which include property accounts, layered programs, catastrophe coverage (earthquake/wind/flood), DIC, construction, inland marine and international business.
Sorrell has more than 24 years of experience in the property/casualty insurance industry. He has recently held lead underwriting positions for GE Global (IRI) and AXIS Capital, handling large property accounts and E&S business. He began his career at Reliance Insurance Company as a claims adjuster in New York City. In 1987, he transitioned to an underwriting position at CIGNA Special Risks in its New York office and also worked for Transamerica’s specialty risk division in New York and Los Angeles. After several years of traveling the globe as a regional international manager for AIG, Sorrell joined Sumitomo Marine Management (USA) in Los Angeles and headed up production and underwriting for the Western Zone.
