People Moves: Sompo Appoints Quane as CEO, International Markets; The Fidelis Partnership Announces 7 Senior Promotions in Bermuda

Sompo Appoints Quane as CEO, International Markets

Sompo, a leading global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty re/insurance, announced the appointment of Alessandrea (Alessa) Quane as chief executive officer, International Markets, subject to regulatory approval.

Effective immediately and reporting directly to James Shea, CEO, Sompo P&C, Quane will be responsible for managing and overseeing Sompo’s Commercial and Consumer Insurance operations outside of North America and Japan. The regional management of the United Kingdom, Continental Europe (including Turkey), Brazil and Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) will report directly to Quane.

Quane joins Sompo with more than 30 years of insurance industry experience having lived and worked in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and France. Starting her career as an actuary she has worked closely with all lines of business across global portfolios in a variety of roles including global corporate chief actuary and chief risk officer roles. Most recently, Quane was chief insurance officer at US healthcare insurer Oscar Health and was an independent director on the board of AXA XL Bermuda, Ltd.

The Fidelis Partnership Announces 7 Senior Promotions in Bermuda

The Fidelis Partnership (TFP) announced a number of senior promotions to support the continued growth of its Bermuda treaty team.

The treaty promotions are listed as follows:

  • Paget Hengesbaugh will become head of International Treaty. Hengesbaugh has been with TFP for five years, having joined from Renaissance Re.
  • Drew Tomlinson has been named head of US Treaty. Tomlinson has been with TFP since 2023 and has had prior roles at OdysseyRe and Penn National Insurance.
  • Will Abbott has been appointed head of Complex Risks and Specialty Treaty. Abbott has previously had roles at Howden Re, Guy Carpenter and Willis Re.
  • Jack Jarvis has been named head of Global Clients. Jarvis joined TFP in 2024 from Canopius.

Hengesbaugh, Tomlinson, Abbott and Jarvis will report to Richard Coulson, deputy group CUO, while also working closely with group CEO and Chairman, Richard Brindle, benefiting from his unrivalled track record, experience and global relationships.

Alongside this, TFP has also made the following promotions and appointments within its Bermuda underwriting team:

  • Mark Herget, who has been with the business for over six years, will be promoted to deputy group head of Property, Energy and Construction and join TFP’s Group Executive Committee, taking on a more senior role in the group’s management.
  • Danny Mereu will join the Bermuda office on Jan. 1, 2026, transferring from London to take on a new role as group head of Property Underwriting Analytics and Pricing.
  • Dennis Brauchle recently joined TFP as head of Property Treaty & Portfolio Analytics, having previously been deputy CRO and head of P&C Actuarial at Hannover Re Bermuda.

“This series of promotions celebrates the great internal talent we have at TFP and the outstanding momentum we are seeing for our Bermuda Treaty and D&F underwriting and analytics teams,” commented Michael Davern, UK CUO and group head of D&F Property and Energy at The Fidelis Partnership.
