Guy Carpenter & Company announced the appointment of Carlos Abrantes as Senior Vice President of Iberian operations. He will be based in Lisbon, and will be responsible for developing the firm’s Portuguese business and local service capabilities in the Iberian region. He will report to Jean-Fran莽ois Berte, Head of Guy Carpenter’s Iberian operations, and Marisol Bernal, Head of Treaty and Facultative Operations for Madrid and Portugal.
Andrew Marcell, CEO of Guy Carpenter’s Continental European Operations noted Abrantes “extensive regional experience as well as a deep understanding of the particular complexities of the Portuguese marketplace.” He indicated that Abrantes would be working closely with “our Madrid-based treaty and facultative teams” to “help us further develop our client portfolio and deliver higher quality service to our existing clients.”
Abrantes joins Guy Carpenter from Global Seguros Lisbon, where he led the technical department and was head of the company’s reinsurance unit. Prior to joining Global Seguros, he worked for Imperio and Portugal Previdente Seguros. He holds a degree in economics from Lisbon University.
