New York residents can sound off about the sea level.
State environmental officials are holding four public meetings next week about projections of future sea levels. Rising sea levels have become a larger concern in New York City and Long Island since Superstorm Sandy struck in 2012.
The State Department of Environmental Conservation must adopt a regulation establishing official state sea-level rise projections by the start of next year. The projections will help guide state policy.
The public will have an opportunity to comment and listen to presenters at a pair of meetings next Tuesday in Long Island. Another meeting will be held next Wednesday in New York City with a final meeting next Thursday in Albany.
