Authorities are investigating a spate of weekend arson fires in Buffalo, including five set in vacant homes.
Six fires occurred early Sunday morning on the city’s east side, with the first reported around midnight in a home where four adults and a child escaped unharmed.
Over the next several hours, five other fires were reported at vacant structures that afterward had to be demolished.
Fire investigators say all six fires were deliberately set.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.
Fire officials say six fires in such a short period left firefighters struggling to keep up.
Buffalo’s thousands of vacant homes and other structures are often the target of arsonists.
