Republican House attorney John Brady has resigned from his General Assembly position to prepare for his campaign for state insurance commissioner.
Brady stepped down so to avoid any conflict of interest or concerns about having too many jobs.
He has been a House Attorney for 12 years. He also resigned as town solicitor for Dewey Beach and Milton. He will remain the Sussex County Recorder of Deeds while he campaigns for statewide office.
The Republican is competing for the seat against Democrats Gene Reed of Bear, Karen Weldin Stewart of Wilmington and Tom Savage of Lewes.
Incumbent Insurance Commissioner Matthew Denn is running for lieutenant governor.
