John J. Kenny, a former deputy chief of staff at the state’s liquidation bureau and adviser to Gov. Eliot Spitzer, has been named special counsel to Superintendent of Insurance Eric R. Dinallo.
In his new role, Kenny will oversee special projects for Dinallo’s office.
Before joining the 400-employee liquidation bureau last year, Kenny supervised finance and compliance activities for Spitzer’s gubernatorial campaign, and later helped to vet candidates for agency head positions as part of the governor’s transition team.
Prior to his career in public life, Kenny was a lawyer with the firm Otterbourg, Steindler, Houston and Rosen for 13 years.
