The Hartford Financial Services Group, as part of its community support partnership with Hartford’s Public High School system, has participated in establishing an interactive workshop to give incoming high school students training in character education and personal leadership.
The mandatory program for all incoming ninth-graders, which began last Tuesday, offers an innovative approach based on the Franklin Covey Co. program, to help teen-agers improve their self image, take responsibility for their actions and learn how to set goals and priorities.
It uses humor, role playing, real-life scenarios and small group discussions to interest students.
The Hartford provided training in the program to High School teachers and the books and other materials required. Hartford and Franklin Covey personnel participated in arranging and presenting the program.
