Nuts & Bolts: London American General Agency (LAGA) has launched an excess and surplus auto liability taxi program in California. LAGA, which writes the program on Scottsdale paper, will offer a 10 percent discount for taxi fleets that use the DriveCam system. DriveCam is a video event recorder that captures and replays driving events just as the driver experienced them. The technology allows fleet managers, police and insurance investigators to see exactly what occurred in an accident, helping them determine fault. LAGA will write accounts for fleets of five or more cabs. Accounts usually have a SIR instead of a deductible. The program is open to agents and brokers.
Dollars: The program has a combined single limit of $350,000. There is no minimum premium, and premiums depend in part on location and loss ratio. Generally, premiums are $3,500 to $7,000 per unit.
Carrier: Risks for the program are approved by the federal risk purchasing group Radio Dispatched Public Livery Association.
