The California Department of Industrial Relations made available $25 million in funding for the California Workplace Outreach Project to support 89 community-based organizations across the state.

This initiative is intended to promote workplace safety and educate workers about their rights.

CWOP emphasizes supporting workers in high-risk industries, including those involved in fire debris removal and rebuilding efforts from the Los Angeles wildfires.

There are 21 community groups in the Los Angeles region set to receive nearly $6 million in funding to support the outreach efforts. This funding is designed to be used to educate and assist workers on issues such as health and safety, hazard prevention, immigrant worker protections and wage theft.

This funding is also earmarked to support workers involved in the cleanup and rebuilding efforts following the devastating fires.

CWOP is an initiative of the DIR. The funding marks the first phase of a two-year funding cycle, set to provide $49 million.
