Lyft is the first ridesharing company to offer trips to travelers at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
Lyft said it began offering airport rides Monday morning. The company’s smartphone app connects individuals in need of a ride with drivers using their own cars.
Uber is still applying to offer rides with the Clark County agency that runs McCarran airport.
The two companies and other so-called transportation network companies were barred from picking up or dropping off passengers at the airport until county commissioners voted last week to allow temporary business licenses. Nearly 900 drivers have been cited and fined $100 each since mid-September for ferrying passengers to and from the airport before licenses were granted.
Airport rides via the ride-hailing companies come with a $2.45 fee, each way.
