A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a San Diego woman who died after eating Salmonella-tainted cucumbers.
KNSD-TV reported that 99-yearold Mildred Hendricks died Aug. 17 after eating the cucumbers and contracting the illness. A second person in Texas also died after eating the cucumbers.
A lawsuit was filed in Arizona by two Maricopa County residents.
Officials suspect cucumbers grown in Mexico and distributed by Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce led to the outbreak. The San Diego company has recalled its “Limited Edition” brand cucumbers and has said the health and safety of its customers are its highest priority.
The lawsuit, filed Monday, names the produce company as a defendant.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than 340 people from 30 states have been sickened by the tainted cucumbers.
