Steve George has been named administrator of Nevada’s Division of Industrial Relations.
George was appointed to fill the vacancy in October after previous administrator Don Soderberg was named director of the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.
George has 16 years’ experience in state government during which time he has worked for four constitutional officers: Attorney General; Governor; Secretary of State; and State Treasurer. Most recently, he served five years as the chief of staff at the treasurer’s office, where his duties included supervision of the various divisions and programs, managing budget and personnel, serving as a liaison with legislators and government officials and the public and managing special projects.
The division is a department of Business and Industry agency. The division promotes and enforces safety in the workplace and encompasses five units to address worker safety: Workers’ Compensation; Nevada OSHA; Mechanical Section; Mine Safety and Training; and Safety Consultation and Training.
