A southwestern Montana hospital has filed a lawsuit against a Texas company saying it didn’t follow through with a contract to install a $441,000 health records system required under the federal Affordable Care Act.
The Independent Record reported Mountainview Medical Center in White Sulphur Springs filed a federal lawsuit last week against NextGen Healthcare Information Systems alleging the company did not satisfy a contract that it install a certified health record system at the hospital by June 2013.
The lawsuit said the hospital extended the deadline to Oct. 1, but then learned in September that NextGen doesn’t have a system that complies with federal standards.
In an email to The Associated Press, NextGen spokeswoman Michelle Rovner said the company stands behind the quality and performance of its products.
