Utah County officials are considering regulating trampoline parks after the county’s emergency room doctors reported dozens of serious injuries from the centers in the past year and a half.
Lance Madigan of the Utah County Health Department says ER doctors from Utah Valley Regional Medical Center found 52 people were seriously injured at the parks within 18 months.
The issue was highlighted after a man was seriously injured last weekend at an Orem jump park.
Trampoline park officials contend the centers are safe, but come with risks like any other sport.
Madigan says better reporting and regulation can help health officials determine whether there are deeper safety issues to address.
