Leonard Freeman, founder of Freeman & Pearce Insurance Agency Inc. in Orange, Calif., died at his Southern California home on Sunday after battling Alzheimer’s disease.
Freeman, a resident of Orange, was 73.
He was born in St. Louis, Mo. and came to California in 1954. He started out with a real estate license in California and in 1964 transitioned into insurance working in the bullpen with Travelers Insurance Co. in Long Beach.
He eventually formed his own insurance agency, Freeman & Pearce Insurance Agency Inc.
Freeman had his CIC and CLU and was active in different insurance associations, particularly the PIA California/Nevada. He was president of California/Nevada PIA from 1990 through 1991. After his presidency, he served several other positions with PIA, both locally and nationally, including national director for the PIA Group.
A viewing will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Fairhaven Memorial Park and Mortuary, 1702 Fairhaven Ave., in Santa Ana. A memorial service is set for Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, at 1855 N. Orange-Olive Road in Orange.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations be made in Freeman’s name to Memories in the Making, The Alzheimer’s Association – Orange County, 17771 Cowan, Suite 200, Irvine, CA 92614.
