A San Diego, Calif. elementary school reopened Wednesday, two days after an arson fire that caused $600,000 in damage.
The blaze shortly before midnight Monday at Alice Birney school in University Heights damaged the cafeteria, kitchen and auditorium. Nobody was injured but it took 50 firefighters 20 minutes to douse the flames.
Investigators determined that a flammable liquid was used to set the fire.
No arrests have been made but the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Last month, another arson fire caused $75,000 in damage to a Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall a half-mile from the school.
However, authorities say there’s no evidence that the fires are connected.
