Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Monica J. Lindeen has been appointed to the North American Securities Administrators Association’s (NASAA) Federal Legislation Committee, a key committee as Congress continues the work of reforming the nation’s financial regulatory system.
“Reinforcing consumer protections and restoring confidence in the financial markets is critical to get our national economy moving again,” said Lindeen in a statement. “I am honored to be asked to serve on this important committee at this critical time.”
Lindeen is just one of seven state commissioners to serve on the committee and the only member of the committee among Montana’s neighboring, western states.
“As Congress continues its work in this area, I look forward to bringing a western, common sense perspective to the discussion,” Lindeen added.
The Federal Legislation Committee is tasked with analyzing federal legislation, drafting statutory amendments, testimony, and letters, as well as responding to congressional requests for information. NASAA is a voluntary association with a mission to protect consumers. It is comprised of securities administrators in all fifty states, and the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada and Mexico.
