Hawaii Insurance Commissioner Jeffrey Schmidt is preparing to establish a program to provide grants for hurricane retrofits, otherwise known as wind resistive devices.
The draft performance specifications for the wind resistive devices are hereby made available for public comment. .
Persons wishing to make comment on these specifications should submit three copies of written comments by the close of business on Friday Aug. 25, 2006. Comments shall be addressed to:

Re: Public Comment on WRD Technical Specifications
In addition, a public meeting will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Queen Liliuokalani Conference Room on the first floor of the King Kalakaua Building at 335 Merchant Street, Honolulu, HI 96813. At the meeting, limited oral testimony may be allowed in the discretion of the Insurance Commissioner. Persons testifying will be asked to summarize their comments, as opposed to reading the full text of their written comments which were previously submitted.
