A North Carolina elementary school principal and a Cape Hatteras man were arrested last week and charged with insurance fraud after authorities said they attempted to make false claims to their insurance companies.
Robert Grayson Dail, 35, of Gibsonville, principal of B. Everett Jordan Elementary School in Saxapahaw, attempted to defraud Nationwide Insurance Co.’s pet insurance program by submitting faked and forged veterinary invoices, North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey said in a bulletin.
Dail turned himself in and was released on a $25,000 bond. The Alamance-Burlington School System said he has suspended with pay, a TV news station .
On the coast, George Thomas King, 60, of Salvo, was charged with attempting to add a sailboat to his Progressive Select Insurance policy after the boat had already capsized, then filing a claim on it for $10,000, Causey’s office explained.
King was already wanted on outstanding warrants for other charges, including allegedly stealing liquor from a store in June then fleeing authorities, local said.
