A homeowner in Florida has been charged with fraud after failing to report a previous claim on her house, the state’s Department of Financial Services said Wednesday.
Nancy Salomon, of Port St. Lucie, applied for an HO policy with Olympus Insurance Co. in 2014, but did not report that a claim had previously been made with American Integrity Insurance, the state chief financial officer’s office said in a bulletin.
Olympus paid $25,543 on Salomon’s 2018 claim, for water damage to her kitchen. The DFS did not disclose how Olympus was made aware of the previous claim, which was settled for $2,000.
Salomon turned herself in to the St. Lucie County Jail last week. If convicted, she faces as much as five years in prison, the DFS said.
