The proportion of prospective Tennessee insurance agents taking exams online has doubled in the last year, the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Industry reported.
The department said that almost 40% of insurance producer exams so far this year were done remotely. That’s compared to 20% last year. In 2021, some 3,188 candidates took the test online and 12,251 came to an in-person testing center, the department said. So far this year, 755 have signed up for the online testing while 1,168 tested in person.
“The continued positive response to remote testing for the insurance producer’s exam a铿價ms that Tennesseans are excited and willing to adapt to new technology,” TDCI Commissioner Carter Lawrence said in a bulletin.
Overall, Tennessee has more than 262,000 licensed insurance producers. In 2020, $48 billion in premium was written in Tennessee, making the state No. 16 in the nation for premium volume, according to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
Pearson VUE conducts the online agent exams. In-person testing sites also remain open across the state, the department said.
