A cease and desist order has been issued to a Mississippi insurance agent accused of failing to forward premiums to the respective insurance companies.
The Mississippi Insurance Department said Friday that it had issued the order against James Michael Brand, of Biloxi, who also serves as the owner/operator of Brand Insurance Services, LLC, d/b/a Gulf Coast Insurance.
The department, in a news release, says it has received numerous complaints about Brand’s failure to forward premiums, a direct violation of state law. Brand and his companies have 20 days to request a hearing to challenge the department’s order. If no such request is made, officials say the order becomes permanent.
Anyone doing business with Brand or his companies who has questions about coverage or claims should contact their insurance company directly.
