The Georgia Department of Insurance (GADOI) has released preliminary estimates of insured losses in the state from Hurricane Matthew.
In a statement issued Thursday, GADOI said more than 30,000 claims have been reported and insured losses in Georgia has now reached $90 million.
“Our preliminary estimate today is $90 million in damage across Georgia. That figure may rise as new claims are submitted,” said Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens.
Residents who need assistance can contact the Georgia Department of Insurance if they have questions about their policy, or if they are experiencing difficulty reaching their insurance company.
GADOI urged property owners with damaged property to take steps to begin the claims-filing process.
