The president of an Atlanta-area college says an explosion that seriously injured a food worker could be linked to a buildup of gases in a sewer line.

A statement from Georgia Gwinnett College President Stas Preczewski says an unknown spark or flame may have triggered the blast, which occurred Monday in a women’s restroom.

He says there’s no indication of foul play. The school is located in Lawrenceville about 30 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.

The explosion occurred in a building that houses a food court, offices and classrooms at the college. The statement says a female employee of Aramark was seriously injured but is recovering at a hospital.

The building where the explosion occurred will remained closed Tuesday, but classes continued elsewhere on campus.
