Authorities say money is missing from a business where a devastating fire in West Virginia’s Harpers Ferry originated.
Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety spokesman Lawrence Messina says investigators determined that the July 23 fire began on a deck behind Private Quinn’s Pub.
Messina says in a news release that Harpers Ferry police and the State Fire Marshal’s Office also determined that an undisclosed amount of money was missing from the business.
The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined.
Messina tells multiple media outlets that investigators haven’t determined whether the fire and the missing money are related.
The fire destroyed four buildings housing nine businesses and caused more than $2 million in damage.
