Authorities are accusing a contractor of taking more than $9,000 from insurance companies for roofing jobs in Richmond County, N.C., that he didn’t do.
The Richmond County Daily Journal reports 42-year-old David Allen Coble of Monroe is charged with felony insurance fraud. Authorities say he cashed three checks and never performed any work on the projects. Court records show the insurance checks were cashed between Oct. 15, 2013 and April 1, 2014, with records also showing one of the checks came from his brother.
Hamlet police and N.C. Department of Insurance agents brought the charges against Coble.
Coble is being held in the Union County jail under a $2,500 secured bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney. His court date is set for April 23.
