The Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia (IIAG) has named Michael T. Walsh as the association’s new of chief executive officer. Walsh is expected to take the helm on January 19.

Walsh succeeds Aubie W. Knight, who left to become CEO of the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina (IIANC).
Walsh comes to IIAG with 34 years of association management experience, including 22 years as CEO of two state trade associations and 12 years with two national fraternity headquarters. Since 2006 he has served as executive director of the Georgia Chiropractic Association. From 1990 to 2003, Walsh was executive director of the Independent Insurance Agents of Kentucky.
Jackson Sherrill, IIAG president, said the selection of Walsh came after a two-month search and interview process.
The IIAG represents 620 agencies and branches across the state.
