Frances Moore, of Moravian Falls,. N.C., an insurance agent and owner and operator of Fran Moore Allstate Agency, has been charged with 14 counts of insurance fraud, according to officials.
Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin and his criminal investigators allege that Moore substantially misrepresented her actual loss when she submitted claims documentation to Allstate Insurance after a June 2008 fire at her Wilkes County home.
Security personnel at a retail store in Hickory became suspicious and notified the Department’s Criminal Investigations Division after observing Moore returning merchandise shortly after its purchase on several occasions according to officials. When investigators contacted Allstate Insurance, the company identified irregular activity surrounding Moore’s claims. Investigators accuse Moore of using receipts from the returned merchandise to file an undisclosed amount of fraudulent claims.
Moore was arrested on Nov. 9 and placed under a $10,000 unsecured bond. She is to appear in Wilkes County court on Nov. 15.
