An Atlanta TV station is reporting that State Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine appeared in a video promoting a hospice business whose top corporate officer can be linked to $57,000 in campaign donations.
According to a report from WAGA-TV, in the videos Oxendine promotes Doctors Hospice of Georgia and then offers his office’s help with a federal visa program. The station reported that the videos were posted on the hospice group’s website but have since been taken down.
The hospice group is run by Dr. Peter Lee. According to WAGA, the doctor, his family and friends have donated some $57,000 to Oxendine.
Bill Bozarth, head of the Georgia chapter of Common Cause, questioned whether it was appropriate for Oxendine to promote a particular company.
Oxendine’s office denied any wrongdoing.
