The West Virginia Division of Highways says it will cost at least $4.5 million to repair highways damaged by flooding earlier this month.
DOH spokeswoman Karen Zamow says the estimate covers damage in 13 counties in northern and north-central West Virginia.
The agency’s District 4 was the hardest hit area, with an estimated $3.5 million worth of damage. The district covers Doddridge, Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston and Taylor Counties.
About $1 million in damage occurred in Calhoun, Jackson, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Wirt and Wood Counties, which are in District 3.
Zamow says it’s hoped that money for the bulk of the repairs will come from federal sources.
