A Baton Rouge, Louisiana insurance producer was arrested for insurance fraud and theft, the Louisiana State Police announced this week.
The Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud/Auto Theft Unit Baton Rouge Field Office began receiving information from the Louisiana Department of Insurance in Nov. 2022 pertaining to allegations of theft and insurance fraud committed by 66-year-old Albert Frederick Peterson III.
The investigation found that Peterson conducted fraudulent activities and/or theft related to insurance products provided to the Baton Rouge Police Union (BRPD Union).
The investigation identified 26 separate occasions in which Peterson fraudulently obtained and misappropriated premium and insurance refunds due to BRPD Union members between May 2019 and May 2021, totaling over $30,000.00.
As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant for Peterson was issued on March 6th, 2024 in the 19th Judicial District Court for Insurance Fraud and Theft. On March 18, 2024, Peterson was arrested by LSP Investigators and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
