A railroad bridge in Louisiana is back in place after reportedly being hit early on Jan. 13 by a tugboat, officials said.
The swing bridge over the Rigolets near Slidell was reportedly hit by the tug Robert Cenac about 1 a.m., the Coast Guard said in a news release.
The Coast Guard is investigating what caused the accident.
The agency says the bridge is owned by CSX Transportation.
CSX crews responded and they’ve “been able to return the bridge to limited service and is working on mobilizing equipment to complete repairs,” the company said in a statement.
“Damaged portions of the bridge have been removed and temporary supports installed,” it said. “No reroutes have occurred and train traffic has resumed operating at a reduced speed.”
