School officials say a subcontractor fell at a new school construction site in Louisiana and later died.
News outlets report that the subcontractor fell around 14 feet while working at the Bullion Primary School construction site in Ascension Parish. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
School system spokeswoman Jackie Tisdell said Tuesday that work has been suspended at the site while an investigation is ongoing. Tisdell says the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration was on-site Tuesday. The spokeswoman says she could not provide the worker’s identity or whether he was wearing a safety harness at the time of the fall.
Bullion Primary is a two-story, elementary school that’s expected to be opened in the fall of 2019.
