Former NFL and University of Texas running back Cedric Benson has been sued by a woman who claims she and a dog she was walking were attacked by Benson’s two Rottweilers in July.
Lynn Comegys claims she was walking past Benson’s Austin home when his two dogs knocked her down and attacked her Maltese, the Austin American-Statesman reported on Sept. 29. Comegys says she has needed continued medical care and is suing Benson for at least $200,000.
Benson’s attorney, Sam Bassett, said Benson sent an apology letter but Comegys declined his offer to pay expenses. Benson has previous incidents of legal trouble resulting from his dogs attacking people or animals since 2011 in Wisconsin and Ohio.
Benson, 33, was a first-round draft choice of the Chicago Bears in 2005. He also played for Cincinnati and Green Bay.
