Financial aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency has reached more than $1 million for Arkansas residents in nine counties who were hit by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding from May 7 to June 15.
The agency announced that 151 people have been approved for disaster assistance three weeks after a federal disaster declaration made the assistance possible.
The assistance includes more than $710,000 in aid for homeowners and renters; more than $68,000 for things like disaster-related medical and dental costs and nearly $314,000 in low-interest disaster loans for homeowners, renters, businesses and private nonprofits.
The agency says residents of Crawford, Garland, Howard, Jefferson, Little River, Miller, Perry, Sebastian and Sevier counties can register for assistance with FEMA by Aug. 25.
