Lafayette, La., fire officials say at least five vacant houses have been set afire in one week. They’re investigating a sixth house fire.
They say two vacant houses were torched within 12 minutes of each other early on June 15.
Another three fires were set between 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, and early in the morning on Friday, June 13, within a two-mile radius.
Fire Chief Robert Benoit said that investigators had not determined the cause of one of two fires that broke out early on June 12 in that same area.
Spokesman Alton Trahan says investigators don’t know whether any of the fires are related.
Fire officials are asking anyone with information about any of the fires to call CrimeStoppers.
