Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett and Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management director Albert Ashwood have announced the completion of a new $2.2 million flood control project.
Bartlett and Ashwood were joined by Tulsa City Councilors G.T. Bynum and Blake Ewing for the announcement Monday morning. The Crow Creek Flood Control Project will help lower the flood risk for 62 neighborhood homes in Tulsa.
The project was made possible through a $1.5 million grant from FEMA. The city of Tulsa used funds from the stormwater utility fee to cover the remaining amount needed for the project.
Bartlett said in a news release that the project shows what can be accomplished through city and state cooperation and federal influence.
