The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association, the insurer of last resort for wind and hail along the Texas coast, reported it has established a Claims Call Center that is open 24 hours, seven days a week.
TWIA is encouraging its agents to let their policyholders know they can report claims to the call center at 800-788-8247 and follow the prompts to report a new claim.
Policyholders need to have their policy number and contact information available, and to be ready to discuss the facts of the loss. They will be asked to provide a description of damages, as well as an accurate date of loss.
TWIA will be asking for a detailed inventory of any personal property items that are damaged. If reasonable and temporary repairs are necessary to prevent further damage to insured property, all related receipts will need to be submitted for consideration of reimbursement.
TWIA will notify policyholders’ agents once a claim has been submitted, so that agents may continue to track claims filed by their TWIA customers.
TWIA said the Agent Portal is still available for agents wishing to file individual claims.
