An assistant Creek County, Oklahoma, district attorney says charges are expected soon in connection with an August wildfire that burned about 90 square miles.
Mike Loeffler told the Tulsa World that he expects charges this week. He declined to identify the suspect and did not immediately return a phone call to The Associated Press.
Loeffler says the charge will be violating the state burn ban or third-degree arson.
A fire near Luther days earlier is also suspected to be arson. Oklahoma County authorities say they haven’t identified a suspect.
A fire in Cleveland County that killed one person was also thought to be the result of arson. A spokeswoman for the state Fire Marshal’s Office did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
