Gov. Mary Fallin says the U.S. Small Business Administration has approved disaster assistance for Woodward County following a deadly tornado outbreak.
Fallin said that the SBA will provide low-interest disaster loans for renters, homeowners, business owners and private, non-profit organizations to repair or replace property damaged by the April 15 storm that was not covered by insurance or other assistance programs.
The program is also available to businesses that sustained storm-related economic injury.
Under SBA rules, the disaster assistance is also available in the contiguous counties of Dewey, Ellis, Harper, Major and Woods.
Fallin sought the SBA’s assistance on April 20 after a presidential declaration for individual assistance for Woodward County was denied.
The tornado left six dead and 224 homes and businesses damaged, including 74 that were destroyed.
