Some residents and business owners in the city of Lafayette, La., and unincorporated parts of the parish will soon be paying 10 percent less for flood insurance.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency said the savings comes about because Lafayette Consolidated Government is actively participating in the National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System.
As a result, homeowners, business owners and renters in the city of Lafayette and unincorporated parts of Lafayette Parish are eligible for a five to 10 percent reduction in their flood insurance costs.
The Advertiser reports the reduced insurance premium will show up the next time a flood insurance policy is renewed or when a new policy is written.
