A man already convicted for a previous criminal offense in Louisiana has additionally been charged with insurance fraud and felony theft.

Louisiana State Police detectives with the Insurance Fraud/Auto Theft Unit say former Baton Rouge resident and current inmate in the Avoyelles Parish Jail, Darryl Brady, filed six fraudulent insurance claims with GEICO Insurance Co. from November 2007 to March 2010.

Brady has been charged with six counts of insurance fraud and four counts felony theft. He was arrested on Dec. 6 and transported from the Avoyelles jail to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for booking.

State Police detectives say Brady filed seven property damage claims on his 1995 Corvette with GEICO. The investigation found that six of those claims were fraudulent and were for the same damage each time the claims were made. GEICO issued settlement checks for four of the six fraudulent claims, for a total settlement of $9,462.00.
