Five insurance and risk management students at the University of Texas at San Antonio have been awarded $10,000 in scholarships from the Insurance Council of Texas (ICT).
The UTSA scholarship recipients for 2010 are Su-Whey Hu, Andre Moreira, Casey Passant, Joyita Saha and Rafael Velez.
“Each student offers an amazing story of taking on a tremendous work load of classes while holding down jobs and maintaining excellent grade point averages,” said Mark Hanna, a spokesman for the Insurance Council of Texas. “Best of all, these students have a keen interest in insurance and each one would be an asset for any insurance company.”
The ICT Education Foundation provides scholarships and academic funding to UTSA and the insurance and risk management programs at nine other Texas universities. To date, the Foundation has provided scholarships to 162 students during the past eight years.
Baylor, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of North Texas, the University of Texas at San Antonio, the University of Texas Pan American, Huston-Tillotson University, Texas Southern University, SMU and the University of Houston-Downtown receive ICT funding. St. Mary’s University in San Antonio will join the list of universities beginning in the fall.
