Thirteen companies with approximately 49,800 employees in Texas were approved to self-insure for workers’ compensation claims for a one-year period under the Texas Department of Insurance Division of Workers’ Compensation Self Insurance Program, TDI announced.
To qualify to self-insure for workers’ compensation claims in Texas, a company must have a minimum workers’ compensation insurance annual premium of $500,000 and meet other requirements subject to annual review.
Commissioner of Workers’ Compensation Albert Betts approved renewals of existing certificates for the following 13 companies:

Hyatt Corporation, Chicago, IL
Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Neenah, WI
Limited Brands, Inc., Columbus, OH
Lockheed Martin Corporation, Fort Worth, TX
MeadWestvaco Corporation, Glen Allen, VA
Parker-Hannifin Corporation, Cleveland, OH
Poly-America, L.P., Grand Prairie, TX
Sam Kane Beef Processors, Inc., Corpus Christi, TX
Southwestern Bell Telephone, L.P., San Antonio, TX
The Stanley Works, New Britain, CT
Union Tank Car Company, Chicago, IL
