Oklahoma’s first ethanol plant has received the state permit and insurance it needs to operate.
Spaceport Fuel in Burns Flat is to reach full production by Feb. 1.
Oklahoma Agricultural Secretary Terry Peach has provided the company a permit for operations. Insurance is being provided by Sullivan Insurance Agency in Ardmore.
Spaceport Fuel, owned by Rannie Dean and his father, Jimmie Dean, will use local crops to produce ethanol. The company produced its first batch of ethanol late in November.
Ethanol plants are also proposed for Enid and Wagoner.
