Texas Mutual Insurance Company’s board of directors unanimously elected Richard Cooper to serve as the board’s secretary and George W. Wesch, Jr. to serve as vice chair beginning January 1, 2003. Governor George W. Bush appointed both men to the company’s board in August 1996, and reappointed them in 1999.
Cooper is the owner and president of National Travel Systems of Lubbock. He currently serves as vice chair of the board.
Wesch is the president and CEO of Mission City Container Inc. In addition, he serves as a board member of the San Antonio Manufacturing Association. He is also a past treasurer, board member and vice president of the San Antonio Executive Association.
Texas Mutual Insurance Co. is the state’s leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance and acts as insurer of last resort for high-risk businesses. According to Texas Mutual President Russell Oliver, both men have played a key part in the company’s success over the past six years.
